Week 73 - February 21, 2025

Hi, everyone!  I hope everyone has had a good week! We've had a really good week!  Last Wednesday, we were able to go to the temple and do endowments!  I love being able to go to the temple every transfer and participate in the ordinances in the temple; it's such a blessing!  Elder Rushforth was able to go to the temple for the first time as well!  He really enjoyed it!  That P-day as well, we were able to go to the Distribution Center, get haircuts, and talk to our families!  It was a good day.

The following week, we were able to get a lot of work done!  On Thursday, we weekly planned, found a couple people, and had a really good lesson with a referral named Jose Luis Miguel!  He invited us into his house, and we had a really good lesson with him; the best part is that he lives right behind us, so we are able to walk there!  We were able to introduce ourselves, share our purpose as missionaries, and introduced the Book of Mormon to him!  He's super cool!  He has so much potential to progress!  I'm super excited to see where he can go!  We were also able to teach Edmon about the first part of the Restoration!  We ended the night by teaching class!

On Friday, we cleaned our car out and had a Zone Conference!  We talked about faith and the importance of faith/the reason we need it!  It was a really good Zone Conference!  After, we visited the Esquivels, taught our friend Flore about the Atonement, and went looking for a bit!  On Saturday, we went and visited Gabino while at work!  He was selling fruit and we went and bought some from him!  He's the best!  After doing some daily contacting, we went and taught our friend Jose about the Book of Mormon!  He was really cool!

After, we went and visited Minerva and taught her the first part of salvation and the importance of repentance and the Atonement!  She has the potential to progress and learn more! After, we taught Gabino about baptisms for the dead, and we're going to help him prepare to go the temple!  We ended the night by teaching Jose Luis about the Atonement and read from Alma 7 and Mosiah 3 (great scriptures that explain the Atonement) and having the interview for Juventino!  It was a super cool experience being able to conduct his interview!  He was so prepared!

Sunday, we had no one come to church 😭; but the sisters had the baptism Juventino!  It went super well!  After, we had to prepare the night church lesson; after that, we went and visited some people and then taught the night church lesson! We taught about faith from Alma 32; it went really well!  On Monday, we had District Council!  We talked about the importance of enduring to the end and how we have to be lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ!  After doing daily contact, we went and found some people (who by all means weren't anything special/not very interested, but we were able to teach them at least)!  After we tried teaching some inactive members but none of them were home; after, we had a really good lesson with our friend Ruby!  We taught her about the Book of Mormon and about the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

After dinner, we taught Minerva about the Plan of Salvation and went over the Fall of Adam specifically! We were able to read in 2 Nephi 2 😀. To end the night, we went to Noche De Hogar with Gabino and went over the Restoration, the importance of praying and enduring to the end!  On Tuesday, we taught Alexandria the first half of the Restoration of the Gospel!  We were able to explain to her the importance and nature of God, the importance of prophets, the apostacy and how the church fell away!  She was super invested the whole time and was loving what she was learning!  She is so solid and has such a desire to learn!  We are going to keep teaching her!  After, we called a referral of ours named Andy!  He was super cool!  Sadly, he was out of town, so we had to wait to schedule an appointment with him!  After, we went and tried to visit a couple of referrals we had received.  We weren't able to find any of them, but we instead found a nice lady named Fransica; she had to be at least 80 years old, but she seemed genuinely interested in learning more; she lives in this really nice house that looks over the city of San Jose!  She had a Catholic background, so we taught her about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the importance of the Book of Mormon.

After a couple other contacts, we got a call from Elder Gardner and Elder Palmer (they were on exchanges) that a referral they had received lived in our area and that he wanted missionaries to come by and visit him!  After the call, we went over, and we were able to introduce ourselves to him!  His name was Rapheal and he was extremely cool!  He's from the Dominican Republic and was looking to learn more about Christianity!  We taught him about the Book of Mormon, prayer, the divinity of the Godhead and our purpose as missionaries!  He's not able to read so we helped him to download the Gospel Library app!  After, we taught Jose Luis Ramirez the first half of the Restoration!  We were able to help with him any questions he had!  We were also able to chat it up about his daily life and what he likes to do! He's loving biking and working out!  It's always fun/good to get to know people better outside of the gospel as well!

We ended the night with a really cool miracle!  We knocked the door of a referral we received named Moises!  We were able to introduce ourselves to him; while talking, however, he told us that he was actually a member of our church and that he had just moved to San Jose and that he was looking for the ward down here!  We were able to get him the information and got to know him a little better; it was a great way to end the night! Before this while me and Elder Rushforth were talking to someone, a HUGE explosion went off somewhere!  It shook the entire ground, and it scared the heck out of me and Elder Rushforth 🤣; we still don't know what it was but it was LOUD!   Love, Elder Copeland
